Helping Hands Clubhouse Kenya (HHCK)

Helping Hands Clubhouse Kenya  is a non-profit non-governmental organization established to support people with mental ill health and help them stay out of hospital by helping them overcome the effects of mental illness and regain their confidence.

Hands Clubhouse Kenya operations are based on the International Standards for Clubhouse.

Helping Hands Clubhouse aim at providing members with a sense of belonging where they can mutually support each other and develop their skills and talents and help fight the stigma of mental illness.

The club runs a number of projects that help to maximize full potential of members through   participatory in shared work.

Helping Hands Clubhouse Kenya (HHCK) is an international organization established in 2008 to offer communities a more holistic, inspiring and cost-effective grassroots solution for helping people who have a mental illness recover and reach their full potential. HHCK implements the International Centre for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) model for reversing the devastating effects of mental illness on people and society.

Helping Hands Clubhouse Kenya is dedicated in supporting persons with mental ill health overcome the effects of mental illness to become independent and productive citizens through engaging in activities that will improve their well being.

All persons with mental health problems sufficiently recover from the effects of mental illness, to realize their full potential, live fulfilling lives and gain the respect of family, co-workers, neighbours and friends.

What is a Clubhouse?

A place where members are helped and help  to :
  • Rekindle hope and rebuild their lives
  • Erase the stigma of mental illness
  • Come support each other stay out of hospital and Manage their mental health
  • Overcome the effects of mental illness and overcome barriers they may face like accessing their education, career, return to job or business, health or social services
  • Value themselves to regain their confidence, respect, dignity and acceptance
  • Engage in meaningful relationship and work that gives them a sense of belonging
  • Realize their full potential by developing skills and talents
  • Objectives:

  • Provide members with a sense of belonging where they can mutualy support each other (develop relationships )
  • Help members fight the stigma of mental illness
  • Help regain their confidence, respect (integrated into society)
  • Help members realize their full potential by developing their skills and talents
  • Help members manage their health (increased control of their mental health)
